New Garage Door

I finally went to get pictures of the new garage door. Sorry, the pictures are dark. So what do you think?

A Dreamy Bathroom Picture

Don't you love this bathroom?!

I love the tall mirrors! Oh... and look at that vanity that looks like a piece of furniture...it is so beautiful! (A girl can dream....)

I saw this picture on the remodeling guy's blog. I knew it was a keeper for my house files! It has a lot of details that I hope to be able to incorporate in my bathroom some day.

For instance, do you see the top trim around the door?

That is EXACTLY what I have been wanting! Doesn't it add so much character? Love it!

The Remodeling Guy did a great post sharing 10 remodeling ideas from this bathroom picture. Check out his blog for some easy ways to create your own dreamy bathroom.

Weekend Progress

I did not get a lot of pictures of what all was finished yesterday. I intended to go out there this afternoon, but ended up home sick today. Here are a couple of pics I took around 5:00 yesterday.
The last of the felt going up...now we just need to shingle.

Windows and doors went in.

Garage door almost finished!

They worked till after dark yesterday. I know a lot more was done, but this was all I had pictures of! I will try to go by tomorrow and take more.

Pecan Trees

We were finally able to plant 2 pecan trees out on the land! I cannot tell you how excited I am!

These will offer some great shade in the coming years, along with pecans to sell and to bake with!

They may not look like much now, but just imagine in a year or four or five...

The Kid's Garden

This weekend, we started planting vegetables in the kids garden.

This is not where we intend to have a garden every year, but this is where the water is located! Right now, we only have water at the road, so we decided to use some of the flower bed for the vegetable and herb garden.

As it is, when we water our new pecan trees, we have to fill up a 15 gallon container and drive it to where they are planted!

Do you know how hard it is to pick up 15 gallons of water? Me either, but my sweet husband could tell you...IT IS HARD WORK!

Hopefully in the coming months, we will be able to run water lines out to the shed. Until then, I think this is the perfect place for the garden...wouldn't you say?

Unexpected Visitor

E was playing in her fort when she saw a SNAKE! Her daddy went to see...

and he found a cottonmouth!

We are so thankful for God's protection. I cannot even express all the thoughts going through my mind right now...all the what if's....what if it was under the board instead of on top of it? what if it was my 2 year old M who came up on it? You see why I cannot go there.....

My heart is overflowing with thanksgiving that everything turned out the way it did! God is so good!

Oval Mirror

I was so excited to find this oval mirror at TJM. (Yes, it is oval although it looks round here!) It was on clearance for $20.

I thought that was a great price for a beveled mirror! I am planning to use it as the mirror in the master bath.

Beach Bathroom

Ever since we have been talking about building our new house, B has said that he wants his bathroom to be a beach bathroom. He wants shells and sailboats....and he wants it to be blue.

So today when I saw this picture over at the Inspired Room, I knew it must be filed away in my idea folder for B's beach bathroom.

Isn't it great!?! I love this blue cabinet! How cool would it be to find an old bathroom cabinet at a Goodwill and paint it this beautiful blue color!

When I showed this picture to B, he liked the blue cabinet...but quickly added that he did not like the bucket as a sink!

New Flower Bed

We borrowed a tiller this weekend and was able to get started on some flower beds. I want to be able to transplant out at the land some of my flowers in our yard now. Of course, I had to get a bed prepared first.

It was not an easy task. I worked the tiller some too - it is loud and hard to hang on to, if you are not careful!

Scot did a super job along with my other sweet helpers!

I hope to get started planting this week! I just can't wait...and neither can the kids!

Trusses are Finished!

All the trusses are now up!

Scot was so thankful that Jason and Chris came to help on Saturday afternoon. They were able to put up the remaining beams and trusses.
This is the back view of the shed. (You will have to excuse the kids hunting Easter eggs in this picture.) This door leads to the storage area. The overhang will be an area for the kids to store their bikes, etc.

Glass Cabinets

Don't you just love these tall glass cabinets? I LOVE them!

I saw this picture on the remodeling guy's blog. He has a ton of great ideas. If you are thinking you can't do a home improvement project, check out his blog and he will show you how simple things really can be!

The Posts

One of the concrete footers that Scot did on Saturday.

Monday night, Scot and Larry worked out in the freezing cold to get these posts installed. The wind was blowing so bad. I still am not sure how they were able to get it done, but they did!

Scot is so thankful for all the help Larry has been! He is trying to get everything ready for Saturday, when hopefully he will have a team of helpers to put up the remaining trusses and the other side of decking and felt.

Saturday's Projects

Roofing felt and building wrap were projects on Scot's agenda today. Both were not easy projects to do alone. So I helped him a little with the building wrap. (I really did not do much just held the roll while he nailed!)

The felt was not something I was willing to help with (not that Scot even had to ask, I don't think he would want me on the roof either) and I REALLY did not like the idea of him trying to do it alone. Thankfully after doing the first few rows by himself, Larry came and was able to help with the last few.

Is it just me or would you be nervous to let your husband get on a roof to try to do this alone?

You may ask why put on the felt when there are still areas of decking that needs to be installed..good question...the answer is the OSB does not need to continue to be exposed to ALL the rain we have had in the last week. So it is better to have the part that is up covered to protect it from more rain that is due to come in tomorrow.

The Footers

These are 2 of the holes Scot dug for the footers for the back porch of the shed.

I call it a porch, really it will just be an over hang where the kids can store their bikes and other yard toys, etc.

Not really sure of all the technical terms for this, but he is framing around the footer so he can pour in the concrete.

Maybe one day he will hijack this blog and be more specific! Until then, I will just continue to document his journey to building his part of the dream....his shed! (I say that with a laugh because I joke around that he has dreamed, planned and built this massive shed and while I dream and plan for the house!)
