Homeschool Room

As most of you know, we are a homeschooling family. In the new house, we are designing a homeschool room big enough for each child to have their own work space. I have been gathering ideas and putting them in my file folder. I thought I would share a few with you today.

This first picture is from Centsational Girl. I love so many things about this room! You will want to go here to check it all out! It is fantastic!

I love the huge map in this picture. She said it could be ordered from National Geographic for around $100. When I checked it out, it was on sale for $79.99!

I think the next picture came from Pottery Barn. I love the large bulletin board over the desk. This will give them each an opportunity to personalize their space. We can use scrapbook pages like they did here or we can cover it with fabric.

I also want to add a ledge to one of the walls. It will make a great way to display the kid's framed art work.

Centsational Girl got these large clothespins from Pottery Barn. I would love to find some for myself! I think they would be a fun way to show off their "good work" papers.

Of course, what class is complete without a chalkboard. The great thing is that with chalkboard paint, you can put one anywhere!

I think this will be a fun room to decorate. I want it to be fun and inviting, creative and functional. A place where the kids can explore the wonderful world of learning!

Isn't it so Inviting?

I love this kitchen. Isn't it so inviting?
The chunky moldings and the double doors...the glass cabinets...the farmhouse table with the elegant wooden chairs....it is just what I dream my own kitchen will someday look like!

House Tour 2

Here are a few pictures from the tour of homes that our city has had over the past two weekends.

I love the color of this house. I think it looks great with the crisp white and dark black accents. The other thing that I love is the different types of vinyl. It adds so much character.

We saw a lot of this today too. It is stained concrete that has been scored to look like tiles. Isn't it fabulous?!

Walking through a staged house is so much better than empty rooms. It really helps you visualize the space. This house was staged and it was absolutely gorgeous! I got a lot of pictures and ideas from it.

This dining room table is stunning! You can expand it for more seating. I am seriously debating whether to get a round table instead of the traditional rectangular one.

We also went through a house that is still being built. It was one that I actually saw blueprints for online and was the first house I had picked out more than a year ago!!! How cool is that! I still love it and after touring it have even reconsidered it...it is so pretty....we will see.

The local builder added sq footage and tweaked the layout. I can't wait to tour it when it is complete!

I LOVE the archway separating the kitchen from family room.

How awesome is this outdoor fireplace right on the back porch! Love it!

Oh to dream, right?

House Tour 1

This weekend is a local Home Tour. There are over 500 houses open in various neighborhoods across the city. I am so excited! I love to go through and see the different styles and layouts of the houses.

We went to several homes last year. I brought along my camera and took several pictures of ideas I want in our new house. These are a few of them.

It is a great time to get information from local businesses and builders. any houses have little signs telling you who did backsplashes or cabinets or closets. It is nice to see something you like and know which company did it!

Next week, I hope to show you some new ideas I find this weekend!

More Cowboy Stuff

My sister gave me these for the kid's cowboy bathroom. Have I mentioned how fun it is to collect little things like this for the new house...now if we could only sell this one!!!!
