Mirror, Mirror on the Wall

Another quick weekend project was painting this auction mirror the same watermelon color as the butterflies. (Rememeber my auction story,  if not click on the link!)

A fun fact is that when I took the mirror out it was stamped 1966 (which explains the ugly gold color!)
What once was an outdated mirror has turned into a real beauty with just a little spray paint! Don't you agree?

Pink Butterflies

We are all getting excited about moving to our new house later this month! So when we had a warm day this weekend, we jumped at the opportunity to tackle a few quick projects for the girl's rooms.

I got 3 of these little butterflies at the thrift store for $2.00. (The funny thing is I remember my mom having these butterflies in her kitchen when I was growing up, but hers were yellow :)

We spray painted them a lovely watermelon color.

We are all happy with the results and I think the pink will look great against the turquoise walls.

The Goodness of God (B's vanity take 2)

We bought a vanity on clearance from our favorite home improvement store several months ago. I told you about it here. We had them hold it until we needed it. Unfortunately, there was a mix up and they sold it! Thankfully, they refunded us the $50 we paid for it.

We went back to our favorite store to look for another vanity for B's bathroom. We did not find any on clearance so we were going to just bite the bullet and pay the $169 for a new vanity plus sink. (The other one did not have a sink it was just the vanity.)

The guy who was helping us knew our story and hated what had happened. He offered 10% off this vanity. So that helped a little it was just not the $50 we had paid for the other one!

We went to the front of the store to wait for him to bring the vanity to us so we could pay and be on our merry way. When he got up there, he started smiling. He said you are not gonna believe this, but the only one we have left is the floor model. Scot said no problem will you discount it even more than the 10%? The guy said well it also has a small busted area on the back of the cabinet (which will be against the wall and no one will ever see). He said let me see what I can do for you since it is also "damaged". He talked with the store manager and they sold it to us for $50!!!!

The exact amount we had paid for the other vanity that did not even have a sink with it!

All we can say is GOD IS GOOD! What a blessing that was! We were not out any more money and really came out ahead because we did not have to pay for a sink! WOW...I still can not tell this story without tears streaming down my face. God's goodness is so overwhelming at times!

E's Mirror

I saw this mirror in the Tar-jay sales paper. I have admired the bigger version of it at Lowe's for quite a while now.  When E saw it she fell in love with it too and wants it for her room. It looks like it may be the perfect size for above her dresser.
The best part is that it is only $15! The bigger ones are in the 70-80 dollar range.  I guess I will just have to go to Tar-jay and check it out before they are all gone :)

B's vanity

We still needed a vanity for B's bathroom. I was hoping for something cheap and did not really care about the color because I plan to paint it. Remember my inspiration picture?

We finally found this one on clearance for $50.00! Regular price....$289.00!

A few days before we had found the white sink and counter for $49 on clearance! So for a total of $99 we bought B's vanity and saved almost $200!

Girl's Bathroom Colors

Target has towels marked down to $2.74! The girls each picked a color they wanted to use in their bathroom.
E picked the green above, S picked turquoise, and M chose pink. Now they each have their own towels and there will not be any confusion as to which towel belongs to which child!

This is the shower curtain they have all agreed on. Cute huh?

I think it is a great way to get all their favorite colors in this shared space!

I have had this picture saved in my mudrom file for a while long time now. I love the use of these old milk crates.

Well, guess what I got at a garage sale today? A milk crate...for $2.00!

Talk about EXCITED. I couldn't wait to get home and show Scot. He was just as excited as I was about finding it. I love having a husband who enjoys these things too!

Girls Bathroom Cabinet

I was able to find a picture on the L*we's website showing our deal of the day! The bathroom cabinet shown below has been on clearance for the last several weeks. (We know this because Scot has seen it there on his frequent  trips to our favorite home improvement store.)

Anyway, on Saturday it was still there so Scot decided to make an offer on it.

He talked with the department manager and offered $75. The guy said how about $100.00?

Scot said SOLD. You see this 5 ft bathroom cabinet regularly sells for $529.00! What a blessing!!!!!

Clearance Chandelier

The picture below does not do this chandelier justice! It really is a beautiful silver and glass fixture that will look perfect in the girls room (or maybe in their bathroom?) Either way, it has the "fancy" feel that they are wanting.

We were super excited to find it on clearance for $39. Regular price was $159.00! We are so thankful for the ways we have been able to save money here and there on items we will be needing to buy soon.

We also found something HUGE on clearance and saved a ton of money on it! It is still at the store waiting to be picked up but when we get it, I will take a picture to share with you and give you all the details.

I found this beauty at T*Ma*x for only $15.00!

For now, Scot hung it for me over the mantel in our bedroom. I think I will use it in the foyer at the new house.

The Storage Cube

I got this great wicker storage cube from Wa*m**t. It was the last one in the clearance section and did not have a tag on it. I asked the cashier if she could tell me a price on it.
She gave it to me for $3.50! It pays to ask!

Bathroom Cabinet

I went to an Estate Auction over the weekend and had a BLAST! I got SO much stuff for so little money. (It really pays to stick around to the end of the sale! There are not as many people and they are putting things together to be sold as lots.)

To see more of my goodies, visit here.

When I first arrived, this bathroom cabinet caught my eye. It was in perfect condition. Not only is it a practically brand new cabinet, it is very well built and super heavy. Another words, not a cheap cabinet!

Can you believe that I paid $40 for it!!!!

My cousin, who was with me at the sale, said he recently remodeled his bathroom and bought a cabinet much smaller than this one and paid way more than $40...score!!!!! I did look on the home improvement stores websites to find one similar to see how much it would have cost new. I couldn't find the exact one, but similar ones this size WITHOUT the faucet was in the $300 -$500 range.

Not sure yet which bathroom I will use it in at the new house, but I know I saved A LOT of money and THAT makes me sooo happy!

Cowboy Bathroom

One of the first things the kids said when we were talking about building a new house is that they wanted a cowboy bathroom. They LOVE horses and wanted that to be the theme. The problem is that they all wanted it for "their" bathroom. (The girls will share and B's will also be the "company" bathroom.) So to compromise we said we would make the upstairs bathroom the cowboy bathroom. Everyone agreed and was happy with the idea.

Over the last several months, I have been on the look out for things to use in the new house. My philiosphy is that it is better to spend a little here and there, than to pay full price later. That all being said, here is what I have found so far for the cowboy bathroom.

Last August, T**g*t marked down their college collection of towels and shower curtains. I waited till they went to 75% off and snatched up a few things.

I got the shower curtain for around $4. I got 2 brown and 2 beige towels for $1.98 each. I also got a 8 pack of washcloths for $1.25.

At our local kids consignment sale, I got this valance for $5. My plan is to use it as a valance over the shower curtain to dress up the plain beige curtain. I can't wait to see how it will look!

The border is this cool red bandana material. The valance came with an extra yard or so of this bandana material, so I will use it for a curtain for the window.

Of course, I am still not finished, but I am excited what I have found so far! The hunt is half the fun!

A few other things I am planning to do is use a real horse shoe for the hand towel holder. My
friend, who owns a horse, has one for me!

I also want some personal touches so I am going to get the kids to help do some things in there too. For instance, remember when S painted a horse on her award winning pumpkin? Well, guess who is doing some custom art work??

As I get more, I will be sure to show you! Can you tell I am having lots of fun with this???

Bathroom Mirrors!

I went to the mall by myself the other night. This is something that very rarely happens! I realized on this trip that I really need to do it more often. I am so much more productive when I don't have to take little ones to the bathroom a hundred times!

Well, since I did not have 4 extra sets of hands with me, I decided to go into Kirkland's. This is a store I love to go into, but I usually avoid because my little ones love to touch and pick up all the beautiful, breakable things! It makes me so nervous I just can't "enjoy" the store.

Anyway, I am so glad that I was able to go in and dream.... Honestly, I believe God lead me into the store that night. They were having a sale on their green tagged items. I have found many things in their scratch and dent sale. It is usually something that a can of spray paint or hot glue can fix and make as good as new!

I looked around a little and then made my way to area where they had all the damaged items. There leaning against the counter were 3 large mirrors. The mirrors were in tact and the frames had just a few scratches on them! I looked for the price tag expecting to see this beautiful framed mirror to be marked at least $50.00 (the original tag said $79.00). Boy, was I wrong! It was only $15.00 and so were the other 2...I was excited beyond belief! (Still am!)

These mirrors will be perfect over the vanities in the kids bathrooms! All I will need to do is prime and paint them! How awesome is that!

I couldn't help but compare prices. I went online and saw that at the local home improvement store, bathroom mirrors this size would easily cost us $100.00 each. What a blessing to get all 3 of them for $45.00!

I am so thankful that God takes care of us...even in little things like bathroom mirrors!
