S helped Scot lay the flooring in her room. (The kids think it is so cool to be able to help with their own rooms!) She worked for 5 hours with her daddy and was a HUGE help!

Flooring Day 1
Scot and B worked hard on getting some flooring laid today. They finished the homeschool room and the guest room upstairs. It looks beautiful! B is such a BIG help. Scot said he really could not have done it without him!
This little 7 year old works hard and he loves doing it....Spending time with his daddy, of course, but also just working with his hands and using power tools :)

Butler's Pantry
One thing I wanted was a Butler's Pantry. It is a little pass through between the kitchen and the dining room. There is plenty of extra storage for things I don't use often. We can use this space as an extra service area for drinks or desserts when we family and friends over.
The upper cabinets with be glass with shelves in the middle. For now, I plan to display my brown and green glassware although once we are actually in the space who knows what will be displayed :)

Island
The island is getting primed. I am so excited to see how the color turns out. It will be painted Truly Olive the same color as my dining room.
I am already in love with all the storage in my "continent". It is just how I imagined!
This is the side where the bar stools will be. There will be cabinet doors and shelves inside for storage space. I am so glad we were able to capture this otherwise wasted space.
Sorry about the sideway picture - I cannot get it to turn?? Anyway this is the end facing the breakfast room. It will have shelves for display.
Lots of drawers - deep drawers!
All the drawers and doors waiting to be painted!

Mud Bench
The mud bench is installed and primed. I cannot wait to see it painted. I chose to paint it the same color as the island in the kitchen - Truly Olive. It is a bold choice but I love it already and it is just the primer :)

The Goodness of God (B's vanity take 2)
We bought a vanity on clearance from our favorite home improvement store several months ago. I told you about it here. We had them hold it until we needed it. Unfortunately, there was a mix up and they sold it! Thankfully, they refunded us the $50 we paid for it.
We went back to our favorite store to look for another vanity for B's bathroom. We did not find any on clearance so we were going to just bite the bullet and pay the $169 for a new vanity plus sink. (The other one did not have a sink it was just the vanity.)
The guy who was helping us knew our story and hated what had happened. He offered 10% off this vanity. So that helped a little it was just not the $50 we had paid for the other one!
We went to the front of the store to wait for him to bring the vanity to us so we could pay and be on our merry way. When he got up there, he started smiling. He said you are not gonna believe this, but the only one we have left is the floor model. Scot said no problem will you discount it even more than the 10%? The guy said well it also has a small busted area on the back of the cabinet (which will be against the wall and no one will ever see). He said let me see what I can do for you since it is also "damaged". He talked with the store manager and they sold it to us for $50!!!!
The exact amount we had paid for the other vanity that did not even have a sink with it!
All we can say is GOD IS GOOD! What a blessing that was! We were not out any more money and really came out ahead because we did not have to pay for a sink! WOW...I still can not tell this story without tears streaming down my face. God's goodness is so overwhelming at times!

Oh the Choices!
This week we are picking paint colors for the house! I know several colors that I want already, but I need to decide between a few different colors for the main area of the house. I want to use a main color through most of the downstairs and up to the second floor. You can see the main area upstairs from the front door so I want to use the same color in that area as well.
Lots of rooms and lots of colors...so exciting and a little nerve racking making sure it is the right color! In case you are wondering....yes, the kids are getting a say in their room.
I will show you what we pick as soon as it starts going up on the walls!

Gable Siding
They finally replaced the gable window and so they were able to finish the siding on the gable. I think it looks fantastic! The columns and doors still need to be painted. I can't wait to see how that will change the look of the exterior of the house!

The crown molding is being installed this week. It has made a huge difference already and there is not even any paint on the walls yet!

Trim work and Interior doors
They set up the saw in the dining room to cut all the trim work. It created quite a mess as you can imagine but it was so worth it for the finish product. It looks fantastic!
Some of the guys working on installing the trim work! They are such nice hardworking guys. We have been blessed with such wonderful men working on our home!
Here is a good example of both the trim and interior doors. I wanted simple wide trim something that you would find in an old farmhouse. It think it turned out great!

Rub a dub dub....
the bathtubs are in!
For B's bathroom, they cut a hole in the wall of the living room...I guess this is the norm???? They said it was too hard to go down the hall and make the sharp turn into the bathroom. I won;t question them since they were the ones carrying the HEAVY cast iron tub!
Yes even Scot helped a little :)
Finally set in place.
There were a total of 3 of these tubs, but I am just showing you one of the bathrooms. The master bath will have a soaker tub. That will be installed soon!

Texturing
We chose to have knock down texturing on the ceilings and orange peel texture on the walls. I love it! It will add so much to the walls!

Siding is almost finished!
They should be finished with the siding today! It is dunny how it looks different in the different lighting. It is actually cypress green, but in some of the pics it looks mocha.
